Site Search does not seem to function

For the last two days, the site search on my store admin does not seem to work. When I go to Manage/Products, the inventory loads fine. But if I enter any info into the Product Search box and hit Return, the search runs without stopping. Even if I allow the search process to run for several minutes (normally the search returns appear in a few seconds at most). This is even true if I enter a product name that appears as Available on the first page and last page of my inventory. This search function was working quickly and smoothly just last weekend, but no longer.

Please advise. Thank you.

    Update: I just went to my store and discovered that the search function is not working there either (when not logged in, only as a customer). Any search comes back as Sorry, nothing found. Even if the item is on the first page!

    Is this a site wide problem affecting all users?
