cropping

I've noticed that product images are cropped when they are loaded and then cropped again when they are viewed by customers. Are there standard image sizes that I should be aware of when editing my photos for upload? It can be very frustrating to go back and forth attempting to edit the sizes just so they are compatible with the goodsie windows. Can the composition of an image be kept intact and just constrained to fit the viewing window?

thanks

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that. We're working on a new cropping tool that will make this process much easier! Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

    Best,

    Hi Heather,
I'm still having this problem and haven't seen any updated cropping tool. Its frustrating enough to have good pictures to represent my work but then when its time to upload they get all screwy. I"ll get the thumbnail to look decent with a full square crop, but the more detailed view will cut the image off yet again. This has been an ongoing battle and it may make or break this service to me. Please get back to me soon with anything that will help.

    Thanks!!

I am having this problem, too. I did find this in the ADD PRODUCTS section but it seems like there should be specific tech specs to guide us...

"Note that photos that are not perfectly square will be cropped in the thumbnail view in your storefront. The full image can be seen by the customer from the Fullscreen details view in the storefront. To avoid cropping, upload a pre-cropped square photo as your initial photo."

    Hi Kerry,

That's a great suggestion. I will suggest to our team to add similar copy to a tooltip on the image upload page.

I'm afraid that the cropping tool release has been delayed, but it is certainly in the works. If you need assistance creating an image for your products, please attach an image and we will be happy to give specific tips on how to edit the image, if needed.

I am having the same problem. I sell jewelry so having the full picture on the store front is very important. is there any update with this issue? I just signed up today, but will have to back out if there is no resolution to this. As mentioned in an earlier post even when i resize the original photo to make it smaller it sill cuts off all the edges. My photos are uploaded as "pre cropped" but making them completely square seems impossible. Please let me know what i can do to get the full picture on the store front. If you take a look at my store front the picture cropping is not flattering.
I have attached a picture so that you can give me specific tips on how to edit the image.

    HI Monica,

At this time, the image will need to be perfectly square to avoid cropping. The image you have provided is rectangular. You can either crop the image so that the height is equal to the width, by making the height smaller, or add more space to the width of the image so the width equals the height. Let us know if you need further help!

YES, this is a massive problem, 6 months since the last post and still no cropping tool, or even dimension guidelines, this is so ridiculous. Any chance we could get some dimensions so that when we upload pictures of our product 2/3rds of it isn't cut out.

    Hi Covey,

Any perfectly square image will avoid being cropped. Try one that is around 800x800.

Is the cropping tool being released soon, I think your website really needs it, seems to be lacking without.

    Hi Dave,

Unfortunately we don't have a timeline for that feature currently.
